We have proudly produced the city's Emerging Markets Benefit Ball for 6 years, but in 2009, against an economic backdrop that’s as unpredictable as Kanye West, planning an event for city bankers, and asking them to dig deep and empty their pockets in the name of charity, could have been considered a risk!

However, the 2009 event sold out within 48 hours, and 1000 guests attended Old Billingsgate for the most brazen displays of generosity the ball has ever seen.

The theme: Ritmo Latino. Think dinner dance meets salsa club; think Joanna Lumley sashaying with Swayze; this is where glitz met grunge in perfect harmony. The purpose of the evening was simple: have fun, give generously. And they did. The amount of money raised on the night broke all previous records.

So how did we turn what could have been a tricky year into a roaring success?........ Because that’s what happens when you create bespoke events with care, intelligence and then execute them flawlessly.
